| Pakistani fast bowler: Shaheen Shah Afridi out of Asia Cup and England series due to injury |
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) says that due to injury, fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi will not be able to be a part of the Asia Cup T20 tournament and the home series against England.
In a statement, the PCB said that after recent scans and reports, Shaheen Afridi has been "recommended to rest for four to six weeks by the Medical Advisory Committee and independent experts."
However, the board has said that he will make a comeback in the T20 tri-series against New Zealand in October, after which he will join the ICC World T20 in Australia.
In a message on Twitter, Shaheen Afridi said that every player in our playing XI is a match winner. I wish my team all the best in the upcoming Asia Cup. Fans keep me in your prayers for my speedy recovery. Inshallah I will be back soon.''He suffered a right knee injury during the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle.
PCB Chief Medical Officer Dr. Najeebullah Soomro has said that he has spoken to Shaheen Afridi and he is upset after hearing this news. He is a brave young man. He will soon come back to cricket in full force and represent the country.
The board says that Shaheen Shah Afridi has shown improvement during his rehab in Rotterdam, but still needs some time to improve further.
Accordingly, Shaheen Afridi's replacement for the Asia Cup T20 will be announced soon. While the Pakistani cricket team will leave for Dubai from Rotterdam on Monday.
The Asia Cup is starting from August 27, in which the first match will be between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan, while the next day, on August 28, the teams of India and Pakistan will face each other.
They kept saying that Shaheen Shah Afridi is a human being, not a bowling machine.
While some users on social media have lamented Shaheen Afridi's injury, for some it is apparently good news that their teams will not have to face the Pakistan strike bowler.

An Indian user named Vishal wrote that 'according to you, who is the happiest person right now?'
Manoj Chauhan says that I think the Pakistani board wants Afridi to play directly against India in the World Cup. That is why they were excluded from the Asia Cup.
A Pakistani user wrote that it has given 'Indian openers relief'. While Zaman says that 'the result of feeding all three formats is that fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi is out of the Asia Cup and the series against England.'
Saleem Khaliq opined that he was left saying that Shaheen Shah Afridi is a human being, not a bowling machine.
Use it with care, but don't let it crawl on the ears of authority. The team will have to bear the loss of this mistake.
It should be noted that Indian fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami will also not be able to be a part of the Asia Cup due to injury. Indian captain Rohit Sharma had said that these bowlers will not be part of the team forever so it is important to give opportunities to young bowlers.
