| Pakistan vs Netherlands: Series clean sweep: Pakistan defeated Netherlands |
Pakistan has won the third ODI of the three-match series against the Netherlands by nine runs after a very exciting match to clinch the series three-nil.
Pakistan could score only 206 runs due to the slow batting of the Pakistani batsmen and the fall of wickets one after another, in which captain Babar Azam's innings of 91 runs stood out.
However, Pakistani fast bowlers showed responsibility on this occasion and thanks to the excellent bowling of Naseem Shah and Mohammad Wasim, Netherlands could not upset Pakistan.
Naseem Shah took five wickets in the match while Muhammad Wasim took four wickets and saved Pakistan from a humiliating defeat by bowling out Netherlands in the last over.
After Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first, Pakistan made several changes in the team sheet. Abdullah Shafiq, Muhammad Haris, Shahnawaz Dhani, and Muhammad Zahid were included in the squad in place of Imamul Haq, Muhammad Rizwan, Haris Rauf and Shadab Khan.
However, as soon as he started batting, Pakistan's opener Abdullah Shafiq could only score two runs, but Fakhar Zaman could not score more runs today, he scored 26 runs.
Pakistan's batting was particularly slow during this period, with Babar Azam and none of the other batsmen failing to build a big partnership.
Babar Azam's 91 runs proved crucial in reaching a better total and he was followed only by Muhammad Nawaz's 27 runs and Agha Salman's 24 runs.
The Pakistani team could not even play the entire overs and were all out by scoring only 206 runs. On behalf of the Netherlands, Boss de Leeds took three wickets, while Vivian Kangma took two wickets.
When the Netherlands started their batting, the best bowling was shown by the Pakistani fast bowlers. Naseem Shah continued his good form and took wickets in each of his spells to ensure that the Netherlands did not get too close to the target too early.
Netherlands opener Vikramjeet Singh and Tom Cooper's 71-run partnership had troubled Pakistan at one point, similar to the half-century partnership between Cooper and Ndamanuru.
Both Vikramjeet Singh and Tom Cooper scored half-centuries and if Tom Cooper had been at the crease till the end, the situation would have been completely different.
Vikram Jeet scored 50 and Cooper 62, but both were dismissed at a time when the Pakistani bowlers looked under a lot of pressure. A four was hit, but on the very next ball, he bowled Aryan Dutt to ensure Pakistan's victory.
Naseem Shah was adjudged Man of the Match for taking five wickets for just 33 runs in 10 overs.
Appreciation of Naseem Shah on social media
Fast bowler Naseem Shah made his debut in the first ODI of the same series and has taken 10 wickets in just three matches.
Host Zainab Abbas tweeted that 'Naseem Shah's ability was never doubted by anyone, but his maturing with time is the best news for Pakistan cricket.'
Commentator Atif Nawaz wrote that 'Naseem Shah has not only bowled well in this series but has also tried to fill the void created by Shaheen Afridi's injury. The future of this boy is bright.
The bowling of Naseem Shah and Mohammad Wasim was well praised but there was one occasion in Pakistan's innings when Babar Azam's slow batting was criticized.
However, a user tweeted that Babar Azam has played responsible innings of 74, 57 and 91 runs in this series. Without them, this batting line-up is nothing.
Another user wrote, "Unlike the criticism you face after being the best batsman in the world, Babar's innings helped Pakistan reach a good total today."
